Displacement Studios is an independent game developer and publisher with a varied Steam catalogue. The identity is the constant between worlds: time in motion, direct typography, and a little roughness left visible.

Use when the studio name is already present nearby. Keep the clock upright and the full silhouette visible.

In-game splashscreen lockup

Used at the start of our games: it swipes in from the left, slows briefly, then slides away to the right. Do not extract or recreate the lettering.

Clear space Leave at least the width of the clock’s centre hub around the mark.

Minimum size Keep the mark at least 40 px wide on screen.

Never Stretch, rotate, recolour, crop, outline, or place over visually busy art.

Typography

Time bends.
Names don’t.

Use a narrow, heavy system face for display copy and a neutral system sans serif for everything that must be read. Monospace is reserved for dates, asset labels, specifications, and credits.

Voice

Direct. Say what the game is.

Self-aware. Rough edges can be acknowledged.

Uninflated. No “groundbreaking,” “revolutionary,” or invented scale.

Publisher-first. Let each game keep its own visual world.

Release timing. A release may be ready on time. Tradition requires it to arrive slightly displaced. 😉

Naming. New ventures follow one dependable pattern: (A) Displacement XYZ. The noun changes. Displacement doesn’t.

Application. Do not apply every rule at once. Someone still has to have a good time. Treat the guide as a compass, not handcuffs.

Screenshots & trailers. Show the actual game, not deceptively edited marketing material.
